The flowering of Castelluccio - Norcia

Castelluccio di Norcia (altitude of 1452 meters) is a small town located in the Mount Sibillini National Park a few kilometers (about 28) from Norcia (PG), in Valnerina.
The borgo is located atop a hill in the middle of a plateau in front of the Mount Vettore (2.476 m) .
During the year the park is poor of flowers but  between late May and early July of each year the nature explodes in all its beauty giving the eyes an incredible show of colours.  this show is called the flowering or blossom festival of Castelluccio di Norcia.
When the flowers bloom the plateau bursting with colours, with shades ranging from yellow ocher to red, from violet to white. You can enjoy lentils (Castelluccio is also known for its lentils). gentianella, poppies, narcissuses, violets, asphodels,  clovers, oxalis and many more.
The flowering changes every year, it depends on many factors: how much it rained during winter and spring; the period of exposure to the sun  and so on..
Despite this, thousands of people flock every year to enjoy the show in Castelluccio

Enjoy my friends
